　まだ独立前のフィンランドがロシア化で締めつけられている時期に作曲された「フィンランディア」(1899)《原題はSuomi herää・フィンランド目覚める》。その後半で歌われる愛国的アカペラ合唱曲の歌詞は第2次ソ芬（ソ連・フィンランド）戦争(1941-1944)時代にコスケンニエミにより書かれた。

Oi Suomi, katso, sinun päiväs koittaa,
yön uhka karkoitettu on jo pois,
ja aamun kiuru kirkkaudessa soittaa
kuin itse taivahan kansi sois.

　このメロディーが使われている讃美歌が多くあるが、日本でよく歌われる ♪七つの海越え・・・で始まる歌詞はロイド・ストーン(Lloyd Stone)の歌詞《This is my song》を関忠亮が訳詞したものである。
